BACKGROUND
Project will result with establishment of cross-border protected nature territory between Latvia and Belarus. Territory mostly will include protected landscape area "Augšdaugava" on the Latvian side and National park "Braslavas lakes" on the Belarusian side. The project will include studies of the territories, creation of Nature management plan for protected landscape area " Augšdaugava", adjustments to national nature management plan for National park "Braslav Lakes", common harmonized Nature management plan for cross-boarder territory and common action programme that will contribute to the conservation of biodiversity in the border region while ensuring the sustainable economic development. Part of the project activities will focus on promotion and popularisation of common territory in both nature and virtual environments, as well as offering to visitors interactive solutions for tourism information centers in Daugavpils region (Naujene) and Braslav.
GOAL
To improve management and recognition of cross-border protected nature territory (PNT) “Augšdaugava – Braslav Lakes”.
PROJECT MAIN TASKS (ACTIVITIES)

elaboration of harmonised management plan for cross-border protected nature territory „Augšdaugava-Braslav lakes”;

elaboration of management plan for protected landscape area „Augšdaugava”;

elaboration of adjustments to management plan of national park „Braslavskije ozjora”;

equipment of nature information centres in Braslav and Naujene introducing interactive solutions;

development of common booklet and virtual tour about territory, installation of border signs and outdoor information stands in cross-border PNT area;

creation of public management system for cross-border PNT.
OUTPUTS
Expected results:
- Increased public awareness about cross-border PNT "Augsdaugava-Braslav Lakes".
- Created common harmonized management conception of cross-border PNT "Augsdaugava-Braslav Lakes".
- Ensured common public administrative structure for further management and information exchange of cross-border PNT "Augsdaugava-Braslav Lakes".
